Dr Busbee ACL patient competitive water skiing John Zimmerman, a competitive water skier, experienced a complete tear of the ACL in his right knee while water skiing late last summer. He chose Dr. Matt Busbee of The Orthopaedic Group for his treatment. As a treatment plan, Dr. Busbee opted to implement a pre-surgery rehab regimen to strengthen Mr. Zimmerman’s leg before undergoing surgery on October 15, 2015. Mr. Zimmerman completed all of his pre and post-op rehab with Brian Risser at Saraland Physical Therapy. There are many different ways to replace the ACL during an operation and Dr. Busbee chose to complete a hamstring tendon graft reconstruction of the ACL. Mr. Zimmerman went back to water skiing six months plus one week after his ACL surgery! He competed in his first tournament seven months after his surgery.
