Purpose of the Job:

The person appointed will be expected to assist the Advocacy manager in achieving the objectives of the Deaf advocacy service. Experience in office management and dealing with complex issues is essential. The person appointed is expected to have relevant experience of collecting information and reporting.
Main Tasks / Activities
 To assist the Advocacy manager in implement the Deaf Advocacy service plan once approved by the Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
 To assist in administering Deaf Advocacy service activities in conjunction with the Advocacy manager and a Community Resource officer.
 To ensure the efficient operation and management of the Deaf Advocacy Service
 Any duties, which may be deemed as desirable by the Advocacy Manager
Responsibilities:
 To oversee the administration of the Deaf advocacy service, reporting to the Advocacy Manager
 To prepare report about the project’s activities and achievements
 To oversee the gathering and analysis of information about the projects undertaken
 To advise the Advocacy Manager on matters requiring attention, and assist in implementation of management decisions
 To review and develop administrative systems and procedures
 To oversee applications for grants and funding schemes applicate to the advocacy service
 To keep a check on the quality performance of a program or project.
 Review and answer correspondence, relating to the advocacy service through various channels
 To provide advocacy on Deaf-related issues to the individuals and groups, and to represent the Deaf community at policy level
 Work in a way that reflects the wishes and interests of each individual using the service, enabling them to advocate for themselves, and/or acting on the individual’s behalf when requested.
 Provide secretarial or executive services for meeting
Conditions of Job
The administrator will be based in the IDS offices but will be required to travel to visit different project sites.
The successful candidate should also have a high knowledge of Irish Sign Language, be computer literate and have a good command of the English language.
Hours 35 hours per week; however the administrator is expected to accept the flexible hours and overtime work to meet the demands of the development plan.
Salary: Negotiable.
Contract: One year fixed term contract.
